Warrior's Sacrifice

Yesterday in the San Jose Mercury News it was reported that a soldiers family was awarded the Medal of Honor. In Iraq, he jumped on a grenade, to save the lives of his fellow soldiers. What an amazing sacrifice!! What a selfless act!! I bet he did not even think twice. Although I have real issues with war, in general, in this age of intelligence, I think the President is right to highlight this brave man's sacrifice. I would count myself lucky to have friends like that. What do you think? Can you imagine making such a choice? By the way....he was 25 years old.

  2. I think that it was good that he jumped and saved his parters lives. If it wasn't for that all the soldiers that were there would have probably died or have gotten injured badly. When you think about this you don't really see people think about others. That is what I would call a true friend. I feel bad for his parent they must feel sad but they should feel proud of there son for saving lives.

  3. I think that the man was brave enough to give his life to safe his friends. I would have been scared and not know what to do. What I can't believe is that he jumped on the grenade to safe people that barely knows. I would not be able to jump on top of a grenade because I know I would die in just seconds.

  4. I would feel lucky to have friends like that because they would always be willing to give their lives for you. I don't think I'll do that if I didn't know them that much. I'll do that for family and close friends .

  6. What i think of that it was a nice sacrifice because if nobody jump on the grenade every soldier would have been dead. i would not have done that because i am not that type of person to jump on top of a grenade.

  7. I think that it is a good thing that the soldier who sacrificed himself diserves the medal of honor!
If I had friends like that I would feel proud of them and I would feel super lucky if they were ny friends. But even thought the president gave his family the medal of honor, I think that the president should give his family more than a medal. He should probbly help them financialy.

  8. If I had a friend that would sacrifice his life for me I would probably do the same. But jumping on a grenade to save the other members in his group. That is amazing!! President Bush should know notice that it's not only affecting the soldiers but also there family. This is why we should end the war and bring the troops home.

  10. I feel that was way past selfless and amazing act. I would never imagine myself doing anything like that for anyone but family. But for that brave man to jump in front of a grenade for friends maybe enemies is something else. I wouldn't think of jumping in front of a grenade for friends, it wouldn't come to mind to even think about jumping in front of any type of bomb. I'd probably run away and forget to tell the people I'm with or probably tell everybody to run. That's great that the president pin pointed that out and honor the family with the medal.

  15. It is very hard to make a choice like that, sacrifice your life to save the lives of others without even think about it . There aren't many men like that anymore, and heir parents should be very proud of him because his action was super brave.

I also would of made that sarifice too, but I will probably do it with one of my family members. This guys parents are very be sad, but now the country is honoring the soldier who past away.
